Here are the photos at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London last friday for the late night special on Furniture. I showed eight of the Balance chairs in total, four in each of the the circular ceramics rooms. I was excited to show this many in this location and although like the images show the background was quite busy, spatially the chairs worked well and people seemed to be captivated and it was good to see a lot of people trying to figure out what was going on. Some people thought it was very mathematical others thought that it must be something to do with the holes. Whilst my aim was never to confuse people, as always I like to try and get people to examine what they are really seeing.

It was one of those snowy days so we started a little later than usual i suspect. But we were quickly underway and most of the participants who were aged 14-16 stepped up to the challenge and worked really hard to draw the plans an elevations of an archetypal hotel room. They dressed in black so they could take photos of themselves against the backdrop they had just drawn at 1:1 scale. Possibly a little ambitious in the time, 2 hours, but I’d rather that then something that was too easy…..right?
